Online Food Delivery: Time For Ethics?

Online Food Delivery Apps : Time For Ethics?
In recent news, a birthday celebration turned tragic and a 10-year-old girl reportedly lost her life due to complications arising from an online cake order. This heartbreaking incident has not only shaken me and the community but has also raised serious concerns about the safety and regulations surrounding cloud kitchens operating on food delivery platforms.
As consumers, we entrust these apps with more than just our food preferences. We rely on them to uphold ethical standards, ensure food safety, and treat their workers and partner restaurants with fairness and respect. But do they always live up to these expectations?
Lack of Accountability: These online food delivery apps are making a fortune off our orders, yet when something goes wrong, they conveniently dodge responsibility, leaving us and the restaurants to deal with the fallout. Hefty fines, stringent regulations, and even temporary bans should be on the table when it comes to enforcing accountability.
Ignored Ingredients: FSSAI regulations dictate strict guidelines for the sourcing and handling of ingredients, yet online food delivery platforms rarely provide any insight into where their ingredients come from or how they are handled. This disregard for ingredient standards puts consumers at risk of consuming unsafe or contaminated food.
"When life gives you good lemons, don't make it bad lemonade and don't serve it worst at your restaurant or online."

Good Lemons + Bad Cooking = Worst Lemonade

Quality Control: With these cloud kitchens popping up left and right, who's even checking if the food is safe to eat? It's a stark reminder that someone needs to step up and take charge before more lives are put at risk.
Indifferent to Inspection: Despite FSSAI regulations requiring regular inspections and audits of food establishments, including cloud kitchens, online delivery platforms often fail to ensure compliance with these requirements. This lack of oversight further compromises the safety and quality of the food being delivered.

"We entrust them with more than just our cravings. We pay platform fees, service charges, delivery fees—all in exchange for a promise of convenience and quality."

Why, Why do they try to sell a rotten egg with a golden wrapper!

It's a disgrace!

As the law says, "Buyer beware," but in this case, it's more like "Buyer, be scared!"

As consumers, we have the power to demand better, safer, and more transparent practices from online food delivery apps. With just a few taps on our smartphones, we can satisfy our cravings and have delicious meals delivered right to our doorstep. But behind the convenience lies a complex web of ethical considerations that demand our attention. Let's not stop here!
